Complex dental implant surgery conducted at AMU

Bab-E-Syed_AMUALIGARH, February 01: Doctors at the Department of Periodontics and Community Dentistry, Dr Z A Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University performed a complex dental implant surgery where two implants were placed in congenitally missing lateral incisors.

The surgery was conducted by Prof Afshan Bey, Chairman, Department of Periodontics and Community Dentistry in the Implant Unit set up by the Department recently. Dr Afaf Zia, Prof N. D. Gupta, Dr Saif Khan, Dr Zareen Fatma and Sister Reena were part of the team.

The patient was a young girl of 20 years of age, who earlier had undergone orthodontic treatment. Her lateral incisors were congenitally missing and she was not ready for fixed prosthesis. After proper investigations, the surgery was performed at very economical rates.

Prof Afshan Bey expressed gratitude on the achievement and said that such surgeries could cater to the demand of patients in Aligarh district and far. She said that the Department of Periodontics is carrying out implant surgeries on routine basis and is likely to perform all the complex procedures in relation to regenerative and implant dentistry.
