Geoforum organized Oral Presentation

geoforum_Aligarh  Muslim UniversityALIGARH, February 7: The Department of Geology, Aligarh Muslim University has constituted a students’ forum, “GEOFORUM” to provide them with a platform to interact with each other and conduct co-curricular activities.

The forum organized its first event, an oral presentation on “Role of Earth Scientists in the 21st Century”.

First and second prizes were given to Ms Naima Akhtar, M.Sc. Previous and Mr Mohammad Hasan Ansari, M.Sc. Final, respectively. In view of their good presentation, Mr Himanshu Dayani, M.Sc. Previous and Mr Syed Arif Hussain Jafri, M.Sc. Previous were declared joint winners of third prize. Thirty-six students participated in the event, whose presentations were judged by Dr Abu Talib and Dr Sarwar Rais.

Mr Ausaf Raza, an alumnus of Department of Geology, currently serving as a Geologist in Geological Survey of India, interacted with the students. Mr Ausaf Raza motivated the students to groom their personality and perform well in their career.

Dr Liaqat AK Rao, Chairman, Department of Geology, presided over the function.

The event was a success on account of a combined effort of the Chairman, Teacher Advisor Dr MEA Mondal, members of GEOFORUM, volunteers and faculty members of the Department.

Ms Ilma Arshad, B.Sc. Final, member of GEOFORUM, conducted the program. Ms Roohi Irshad, Vice-President, gave the introductory remark of GEOFORUM and its initiatives along with future goals.

Mr Iftikhar Ahmad, General Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.
