National Workshop on ‘Assessment and Evaluation of Self-Learning Material’

AMU VC inspecting the Vocational Training Lab at Distance Education CentreALIGARH, February 8: A National Workshop on ‘Assessment and Evaluation of Self-Learning Material (SLM) in Open and Distance Learning’ was inaugurated at the Centre for Distance Education, today. The workshop, which is sponsored by the Distance Education Bureau, UGC, New Delhi, will provide comprehensive academic skills for the preparation of Self-learning Material at Centre for Distance Education.

The Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. (Retd) Zameer Uddin Shah expressed happiness on development work carried out by the CDE during the last two years. Praising the Centre’s Director, Dr. Mohd. Nafees A. Ansari for his efforts and painstaking job to streamline Centre’s activities and start new programmes, Lt. Gen. Shah expressed happiness that the task, which he assigned to the Director, CDE, has been fulfilled satisfactorily.

The Vice Chancellor expressed happiness that AMU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration with Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie, for offering Ph.D. programme exclusively for senior IAS officers. He said that Dr. Ansari has played a key role in getting this MoU signed with LBSNAA.

Delivering the keynote address, Prof. A.A.A. Faizi, CRS, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie said that the education needs to be made available to those who are in dire need. He appreciated Dr. Nafees Ansari for his efforts to take the educational benefits to marginalized section of society.

Earlier, Dr. Mohd. Nafees A. Ansari, Director, CDE, while welcoming the guests, highlighted the significance of Self-learning Material as backbone of any distance learning institution and emphasized that this particular aspect should be strengthened by organizing workshop for SLM preparation. He said that the Centre has invited prominent resource persons from IGNOU including Dr. Ashok K. Gaba, Director, School of Vocational Education and Training, Dr. S. K. Pulist, Deputy Director, Dr. R.C. Sharma, Regional Director and Dr. R. Satyanarayana, Associate Professor, STRIDE, IGNOU, New Delhi.

On this occasion, Mrs. Sabiha Simi Shah, wife of the Vice Chancellor, Gen. Shah, inaugurated a state-of-the-art Lab at the Centre for vocational training programmes in Mobile and Tablet Repairing, Laptop and Desktop Repairing and Refrigerator and Air Conditioner Repairing. The Vice-Chancellor visited all the sections of the lab and appreciated efforts of the Director for this innovative initiative.

Coordinator of the workshop, Dr. Mohd. Tariq proposed a vote of thanks and Mr. Ghufran Ahmad conducted the programme.
