Documentary on disability screened at AMU

Bab-E-Syed_AMUALIGARH, February 24- The Disability Unit of Social Service Society, Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University screened a documentary at the College Auditorium on the theme of disability. It was part of an on-going sensitization task taken up by the Social Service Society.

The disability unit had initiated reading and recording facility for visually impaired students of Women’s College. It is also providing a helpline for making writers available to them. The documentaries ‘Nazar Ya Nazariya’, was based on visually impaired people in India and spoke of their remarkable achievements. An episode of popular TV show Satyamev Jayate on disability was also screened.

The screenings was followed by discussion on problems faced by disabled students in the campus. Ms. Jadiya Asjad, a visually impaired student, shared her experiences and raised neglected issues. Ms. Mukda, an active volunteer of University Disability Unit, spoke on the indifference towards disabled rampant in our cultures. Dr. Shadab Bano, coordinator of the society, also addressed the gathering.
