Addressing the senior Civil And Military Officers participating in the National Security Programme, General Dwivedi commenced the talk by redefining the term ‘New World Order’ in the realm of prevailing Geo Political milieu and ‘Balance of Power’ equations.

Taking an environment scan, he highlighted key factors impacting the International System, namely unconventional security threats, polarity matrix, globalisation and North-South divide. The emerging global architecture is characterized by shift in the ‘centre of gravity’ from West to East with the emergence of new power centres, increasing role of Non State Actors, ‘balance of interest’ replacing ‘balance of power’ based alignments and instability due increasing frequency of intra state conflicts besides technology emerging as a game changer.

In the concluding remarks, Professor Dwivedi gave an overview of India’s strategic neighborhood-extended South Asia region.

The session was highly thought provoking and interactive and received overwhelming response.
