SFI Aligarh Muslim University unit constituted

SFI AMUALIGARH, May 03– Aligarh Muslim University unit of Students’ Federation of India (SFI) concluded its first annual conference at the employees union office. The inaugural address was delivered by Professor emeritus Irfan Habib, who in his speech stressed the importance of student movement at universities. He also threw light on the left affiliated student movement which once existed in the university.

Comrade Sunand, secretary of the Delhi state unit in his address spoke about the very foundation of SFI and the relevance of independence, democracy and socialism. He also spoke about commercialization of education and opposed RUSA, CBCS and Central Universities Act.

Comrade Vikas Swaroop, vice-president, SFI UP State in is speech said how the Central Universities Act, Act would pose a threat to the very character of many Central Universities. He also highlighted communal policies of present NDA government with respect to education.

A 15 member committee was also constituted with Comrade Bhavya Sudhir as President, Comrade Noor Jahan V.T. as Vice-President, Comrade Javed Iqbal as Secretary, Comrade Jibin M S and Comrade Ramesh K.R as Joint Secretaries.

It is to be mentioned that an ad-hoc committee was previously constituted on 06.04.2015.
