MUMBAI, DEC 28: Ace Bollywood actor Farooq Sheikh has died of a heart attack at the age of 65.

It was announced that he was in Dubai with family on Friday when he had the heart attack.

On Saturday, fellow Bollywood actors tweeted and spoke out about the popular, plump actor as they found out that he had passed away. “Forty years ago, he and I started a theatre group. It was a very long association, so it’s difficult to speak about his death,” tweeted Indian actress Shabana Azmi.

During their careers, the two actors collaborated in over 300 performances of the popular Tumhari Amrita play.

Another Bollywood star, Amitabh Bachchan tweeted on Sheikh’s passing saying, “A true gentleman, and a wonderful colleague! A quiet honest about him. Very, very sad.”

Sheikh’s career began back in 1973 with Garm Hawa that took a look at the partitioning of India back in 1947 when Britain relinquished control. This led to appearing in The Chess Players, which was directed by Satyajit Ray.

Sheikh was still quite active in acting and in 2013 appeared in the movies Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and the recently released Club 60.
