Katiyabaaz releases nationwide on 22nd August

Katiyabaaz posterMUMBAI, July 25- After traveling to over 50 international film festivals, Katiyabaaz finally comes home for its nationwide release in India. The film is being presented by Phantom films for its theatrical release.

Katiyabaaz is the story of electricity theft in Kanpur told through the eyes of two protagonists: Loha Singh, a katiyabaaz and Ritu Maheshwari, an IAS officer. It tells the story of the electricity crisis in small town India. It premiered at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival and has traveled to 50 festivals across all continents. It was awarded the National Film Award and Best Indian Film award at Mumbai Film Festival last year.

In the short time that Phantom films has been around, their name has become synonymous with quality and good content films. India’s first Director’s only production house that has had an extremely successful year with back to back hits, Hasee toh Phasee and Queen, will be presenting Katiyabaaz, an extremely relevant and entertaining film from India.

Phantom has joined hands with Globalistan Films to venture into the alternate content space through Katiyabaaz. Though in their individual capacities the Phantom team has been involved with acclaimed documentaries like ‘The World Before Her’ and ‘Supermen of Malegaon’, however for the production house it’s a maiden attempt.

Katiyabaaz will release across India on 22nd August.
