Bronchoscopy training course held at Aligarh Muslim University

ALIGARH, May 15- The Department of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University organized a Bronchoscopic training course in collaboration with Olympus, Japan. Seventy students participated in the training course.

Course Coordinator Dr Mohammad Shameem said that such a training programme has been organized for the first time to sensitize postgraduate medical students towards basics of bronchoscope. He said that Olympus had taken the initiative to conduct this programme in medical colleges where bronchoscopy is performed routinely.

Dr. Shameem said that a series of lectures were delivered by eminent faculty members including Prof Rakesh Bhargava, Prof Zuber Ahmad, Prof Moeid Ahmad (Anesthesia) and Dr Mohammad Shameem. Dr Zia Hashim, SGPGI Lucknow, an alumnus of this College, also delivered a lecture. Hands on workshop was also organized for the students to provide them real time experience about Bronchoscopy on models. Latest models of bronchoscope were put on display on this occasion.

Prof Amanullah, Dean, Faulty of Medicine and Prof Tariq Mansoor, Principal and CMS congratulated Dr Shameem for taking the initiative and hoped that the Department of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases will continue to hold such training programmes in future.
