ALIGARH Sep 29- The Eco-Club, Aligarh Muslim University organized a lecture on ‘Environmental Strains and Natural Disaster’ to mark its third Foundation Day.
Delivering the keynote lecture, Dr Mohd Masroor Alam, Assistant Professor, Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology, highlighted the issues related to environmental degradation and necessity to use the resources judiciously. Referring to recent floods occurred in Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Meghalaya, he said that due to the increase in sea level, people residing in low-lying areas migrated to higher plains creating population issues.
The programme was presided over by Professor Tariq Islam, Department of Philosophy. He appreciated the works of the Eco-Club and urged the members to contribute more in saving and protecting the environment.
The founder Secretary of the Club, Mr Arif Md Yeasin Jwadder highlighted achievements of the club and proposed the vote of thanks.
Miss Aiman Fatima conducted the programme, which was attended by club members Mirza Juned Beg, Mohd Asif, Mohd Arif, Shah Sanuwar, Suhail Ahmed, Shahab Ahmed etc.
In elections held for office bearers of the Club, Mr Arif Md Yeasin Jwadder was elected Secretary of the Club unopposed, for the fourth consecutive term while Miss Neha Rehman was declared Treasurer.
