AMU student perform well at Mountaineering Expedition

Monis Siddiqui along with other team members with Mr Tarun Gogoi CM, AssamALIGARH, Dec 09- Mr Monis Siddiqui, a student of B.A (F) Political Science and member of Hiking and Mountaineering Club, Aligarh Muslim University climbed a height of 5890 meters at the Mountaineering Expedition of Mt Thinchinkhang (6010 mts), which is located near Mt Kanchenjunga, West Himalaya (Sikkim). The Mountaineering Expedition was organised by Assam Rock & Sport Climbing Association, under the aegis of Indian Mountaineering Federation.

The event was flagged off by Mr Tarun Gogoi, Chief Minister, Assam.

Mr Siddiqui participated in the expedition as a Climber in a 16 members Team. After climbing the remarkable height, the adverse weather conditions, heavy Snowfall and avalanche hindered the path of Siddiqui and he could not make it to a successful Summit. Earlier, Mr Monis Siddiqui had successfully Climbed Mt Golap Kangari (6025 mts) at the Zanskar Range, Ladakh.

Prof Mohammad Shoaib Zaheer, Secretary, University Games Committee and Dr  Sarwar Rais, President, Hiking & Mountaineering Club, AMU congratulated the player over the remarkable feet and said that the Club as well as the University is proud of the student for participating in such praiseworthy event.
